Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most magical, emotional and all-consuming roller-coaster rides that you will experience, and believe me they will grow up in the blink  of an eye. Before you know it, your little bundle of joy will have grown out of their cute  newborn outfits, and you realise they have worn them just a handful of times. And then you remember that you didn't manage to get more than a couple of snapshots on your mobile phone!

 

Don't get me wrong, my mobile phone is like a documentary of my children's various "firsts". From the first photo in the hospital baby unit, to the first wobbly steps, they are  priceless to me. None of them, however, would look good enlarged, framed, hung on the wall or given as presents to relatives. Taking a really good baby portrait is a skill. It not only requires better equipment than your camera phone can offer, it requires practice and patience, and a skilled photographer.
